​We are a locally owned and operated service company that maintains aquariums and ponds; both freshwater and saltwater. In 1994, Chris launched Lake County's first and only full-line retail aquarium shop. Originally named "Scales-N-Tails", business was good and it wasn't long until local residents and businesses were relying on us for our quality and friendly service. By 2002 the maintenance side of the business along with pond construction had become a full-time endeavor of its own and the difficult decision was made to sell the retail side of the business to focus on providing reliable, professional and friendly service to a growing clientele. Since then, business has blossomed. In 2019, John joined Best Fishies part time. He quickly found he enjoyed working in aquaculture and became full time in 2023.
